Focke-Wulf vs Spitfire EP by Lovesores

Scott Drake from The Humpers. So it sounds like The Humpers. This is a (very) good thing.

Over The Edge

To say this film changed my life would be an understatement. Whilst the film itelf is great and highly recommended, the soundtrack is phenomenal. This was the first time I heard Cheap Trick (I was 13) and it basically shaped my musical taste forever.

2. My Best Friend's Girl (03:39) - The Cars
3. You Really Got Me (02:35) - Van Halen

Good Graphics EP by Rozwell Kid

Imagine if you took the fun catchiness of Weezer and mixed it with the loud, heavy guitars and distorted bass of Dinosaur Jr. The songs have great melodies, fun lyrics, and that same pop sensibility that early Weezer had. They really crank up the distortion in their songs, just like any one of your favourtie 90's "grunge" band. What more could you want? Enjoy.

ST EP 7" by The Basement Benders

Great little EP from members of Future Virgins/ This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb/ Hidden Spots/ Dark Rides/ Tulsa/ Stun Guns/ Black Rainbow/ Cleveland Bound Death Sentence/ Sexy. Rough & ready punk with heart & soul.

III by the Hex Dispensers

Sorta Goth-y, kinda garage-y, this is probably the best Hex Dipensers album yet. Perfect balance between all their disparate parts, great melodies, great punk tunes.

Can't Wait by Sugar Stems

I'd heard great things about this band so gave this album a spin. Wasn't impressed to be honest. Gave it another listen, just in case, and now I get it. I've never changed my mind so quickly about an album! The songwriting, melodies, musicianship, vocals... Superb. Really. By turns The Go-Gos and Voice Of The Beehive, Sugar Stems are what I imagine Josie & The Pussycats should sound like. And that's about as good as it gets!

The Dwarves Invented Rock & Roll by The Dwarves

The greatest rock & roll band on the planet? Definately one of the best. They've certainly never released a bad album, and this one is no different.

We Have Clementines by Fools Rush

Sounding like Jello Biafra fronting Hot Water Music, you might think that Fools Rush can't go wrong. You'd be correct.

Haken by Haken

This is turning out to be a great year for punk. It seems each week there's a new album or single by a new or established band that deserves attention. Haken by Haken is no different. Italians obsessed with Turkish popular culture, playing a killer mix of garage punk and power pop. Brilliant.

Silent Kill by Radioactivity

After a stunningly good first album, I had high hopes for Radioactivity's second. And they don't disappoint. Punk power pop is the order of the day, the band developing a sound all of it's own, pulling away from the Marked Men comparisons of the debut.

A.D. by Angel Du$t

Hardcore like they used to make.

Nervous Like Me by Cayetana

Takes me back to when all I'd listen to was 4AD bands. You can hear Scheer, Throwing Muses, Belly... lots of US 4AD sounds but wrapped up in a package all it's own. And it rocks. Seriously good.

S/T demo tape 2015 by the Nervous

Sounds like The Avengers. Surely that's all you need to know.

Bibi // Little Girl (7") by The Sensibles

Continuing the Italian tradition of producing superb pop-punk bands, The Sensibles new single blows away their peers with ease.

der Faden by der Faden

Members of The Tranzmitors and Statues combine for my single of the year so far. Perfect power pop.

Demimonde by Maniac

'77 style punk from members of LA Drugz. Touches of the Dickies and The Boys.

Hysterese by Hysterese

Male/female vocals, classic rock infused punk. Enough said. I love it.

Meditations On Self Destruction by Long Knife

Like Poison Idea playing Kiss Alive, the first song has the fastest cow bell ever. You should own this. No seriously, this deserves your money.

Peek After A Poke by Impo & The Tents

Pop-punk, power pop, new wave... They just rock, they're Swedish and this album will make you move.

Love What You Love by Zach Jones

Another great album from Zach Jones bringing us sun-drenched power pop and classic song writing. Over the course of his five albums he's gone from strength to strength and this'll be a perfect soundtrack to a summer's day.

Electric Candyland by Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents

Like the best Blondie album since Parallel Lines, this album just rips it up from start to finish. Jenny Dee (also of the amazing Dents amongst others) has the perfect voice for this R&B/punk pop mash up and there really is no other band doing this music as well as these guys are right now.

Headlines by Kris Rodgers & The Dirty Gems

Stumbled across this whilst I was buying the new(ish) Kurt Baker live album and I have to say it's excellent. Superb grown-up pop/power pop whatever you want to call it, it's a great selection of songs played by a band at the peak of it's game. Kris' vocals and keyboard skills are second to none and it's easy to see why he's involved with so many other fantastic projects.
Highly recommended.
